Show Last Friday

Well...the show is over and I have had many requests for pictures. I shall post them soon!

The show went well.

I am now trying to catch up on sleep. Painting into the early morning hours catches up with you pretty fast.

Putting away the brushes and heading back to the sketch book for awhile. Time to start planning for the group show in December.

Progress? HA!

Yesterday I posted some photos of my progress...well...

Last night I really went to town on one of the pieces...end result?
I painted over the entire thing.

Sometimes I start something and don't like the outcome. Happens all the time.

Started working on the second piece (red and yellow). Ended up removing a panel and starting to paint. I DO like where this one is leading, but it is not what I had initially set out to do.

More pictures tonight.

ok...so I said I would post pictures of some progress....here are the very first stages of a few that I have started

New path...

Started new pieces for a show I am part of in October. Every thought has taken a new direction and the work will be nothing like what I had originally planned. The ideas are starting to take shape and hopefully I can get some pictures up very soon! woot!

been a long time

I am ridiculously tired right now. Reason? I just finished a project that filled up every free moment I had for the last few months. Worth it? YES!

I was asked recently if I wanted to help with a high school drama production. Not a new idea for me, but a new group of kids. I agreed and didn't expect to help much because my job didn't really match up with the time requirements for doing so. well...I got a new job...had nights free...volunteered more and more...I ended up being a major part of the team and the Assistant Director.

The whole process was very rewarding. The kids sucked me right in and I love them all. I can't wait to work with them again!

Now what? I finally get to start my paintings! Look for pictures soon!

Junk

I think that everyone should traipse through a junkyard at least once in their life.

I think junkyards are a wonderful place to find memories. You are probably thinking to yourself, "Is she nuts? Trash?" YES!

There is a junkyard on the other side of a neighboring town that I love to visit. I love to go and pull out things for set pieces or props, but also, I just like to look. At this junkyard you can find barber chairs, pianos, cars, tractors, chairs, tables, doors, books...anything. Its like walking into the pages of someone else's photo album.

Look to the left and see a barber chair where woman have gossiped or men have smoked cigars and talked about their wives.

To the right, a piano, keys broke from someone playing glorious melodies in the sanctuary of a church for too many years.

Straight ahead....the VW van. This van is adorned with peace signs and Grateful Dead stickers. Inside, old photographs and a "Save the Earth" trash can.

All of these objects are filled with someone else's memories, left out in the rain for all to see.

some days....

There are some days that may start bad, but by the end of the day you are so excited that you can't sleep.

Today was one of those days.

I love when one creative soul has a thought that sparks a fire of enthusiasm in others. A friend of mine mentioned something in passing that just got my brain reeling. I couldn't stop thinking about it so I spoke with her again. CREATIVE COLLABORATION! Love it!

Good creative ideas always flow like an avalanche. More people get excited and encourage the idea and BAM! I can't explain the excitement.
